Pet Insurance

Taking an animal to the vet is stressful enough without the bill at the end of the treatment. Your cats and dogs are part of the family, and very few owners would now think twice about paying for drugs or surgery to improve a pet’s quality of life.

50plus Petwise can offer you excellent value pet insurance to keep your animals in tiptop condition and to save you worrying about unexpected vets' bills.

We have 3 levels of cover: Bronze, Silver and Gold
Cover for each incident is up to:
£1,000 under Bronze
£3,000 under Silver
£5,000 under Gold.

Time limits: many insurers limit payments for ongoing conditions to the first 12 months only – but 50plus Petwise will continue to cover your animal’s condition without a time limit up to the policy limit, as long as the cover remains in force, the policy is renewed and premiums are paid up to date.

Death of pet: we can also help you if your pet sadly dies as a result of an accident or from injury or illness. We will cover up to £250 on the Silver policies and £750 on Gold for dogs who are under 9 years old and cats who are under 11.

Lost or stolen animals: if your pet is lost or stolen, we will pay for local advertising and offer a reward to help find him or her, up to £250 on Silver and £750 on Gold policies. If your pet is not recovered in spite of the advertising and reward, we will reimburse his or her purchase price up to £250 on Silver and £750 on Gold. You can’t replace your lost pet, but it might help you offer another animal a good home.

Damage: sometimes, with the best will in the world, dogs cause damage or injury to a third party - and you as owner are legally liable for this. You are protected from claims up to £1,000,000 including legal costs, unless you are already covered by your household policy for this.

Similarly, if your pet causes damage to a third party for which you are not legally liable but for which you feel a moral obligation to pay, we will pay you up to £500. There is an excess of £100 on each claim for accidental damage.

Boarding kennel fees: if you have to go into hospital for more than four days and have to put your pet into a boarding kennel or a cattery, we will pay you up to £250 on Silver and £1,000 on Gold policies.

Holiday cancellation costs: if your pet has to have emergency surgery within 7 days of your departure date, we will reimburse your holiday cancellation costs up to £250 on Silver and £2,000 on Gold policies.

Healthcare away from home:if you and your pet are away from home and your pet needs urgent veterinary care, you may not know who to turn to. 50plus Petwise offers you access to a helpline which will identify the nearest vet to help you.

Bereavement counselling: we can offer you an understanding, confidential and professional service enabling you to talk for as long as you need about the death or illness of your pet. Help and advice to address the symptoms brought about by bereavement, available 24hours a day, 365 days a year.

Pet Legal: our lawyers are available to provide advice and explain legal issues in plain English and in a friendly and helpful way, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Pet Minders: we can help you to locate a registered Pet Minder (on a national basis) for either a few minutes or a few weeks in order to look after your pets whilst you are away. Peace of mind for when you can’t be there with them.
